
ST. LOUIS - A 70-year-old unarmed guard was held hostage by prisoners at the St. Louis City Justice Center Tuesday morning.
The situation first began to take place right around 6 a.m.
A source close to the situation told KMOX News that the prisoners wanted 'chicken patties and pizza'
The injured guard was released at around 8:30 a.m. Police tell KMOX that the SWAT team has deescalated the situation at around 10 a.m.
The guard left the building in a wheelchair. He entered an ambulance and transported to a hospital. The extent of his injuries are not yet clear.
Police blocked down North Tucker Boulevard from Clark Avenue to Market Avenue in wake of the situation.
St. Louis officials will host a press conference at 2 p.m. to give more details regarding the situation.
