It was one year ago that the Supreme Court issued its landmark ruling overturning Roe vs. Wade. The Secretary of Health and Human Services has chosen the St. Louis area to mark the anniversary.
Secretary Xaiver Becerra has plans to be on both sides of the river today.
He'll begin in Fairview Heights at the large Planned Parenthood facility with a closed-door tour and discussion about what he terms the "tale of two states," operating so close to states where abortion is banned. The facility was built because many surrounding states don't offer the procedure anymore.
Then, he'll cross the river and stop by the Planned Parenthood office in the Central West End in St. Louis, where health care other than abortion, like emergency contraception and pregnancy testing, is still provided. Becerra will participate in a roundtable there.
