EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. (KMOX/AP) — After a series of tornados touched down and caused dozens of deaths in the South and Midwest, national and local organizations are pitching in to help victims' families and the thousands of survivors.

St. Charles
Volunteers and donations are needed in Defiance, Missouri. Efforts are being coordinated by AmeriCorps at Augusta Fire Station #2 at 3099 Highway 94 S. They're asking for donations like "bottled beverages, non-perishable food, animal care products and gift cards can be dropped off at the New Melle Fire Protection District Station #1, 3705 Mill Street. No clothing, please."
GoFundMe
The online crowdsourcing site has setup a page with verified fundraisers for victims of the tornadoes in across multiple states (Missouri, Illinois, Tennessee, Kentucky and Arkansas).
Red Cross
The Red Cross is making it easy to send a quick $10 donation simply by texting "REDCROSS" to 90999. Other donations can be made by calling 800-733-2767 or visiting their website.
Salvation Army
They set up a disaster relief fund for tornado victims. The goal is to dispatch mobile kitchens that can serve 500 to 1,500 meals per day to survivors and first responders in the affected areas. Donations can made here or by calling 800-725-2769.
Kentucky was the worst-hit by far in the cluster of twisters across several states, remarkable because they came at a time of year when cold weather normally limits tornadoes. At least 64 people died in the state, Gov. Andy Beshear said Monday. There were at least another 14 deaths in Illinois, Tennessee, Arkansas and Missouri.
The organization tweeted, "We're working to make sure everyone has a safe place to stay, food, relief supplies and emotional support."
