ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - A 9-year-old boy remains in critical, but stable condition, after he was pinned between a van and a truck next to Hickey Park [Sunday] afternoon.
St. Louis Police say a speeding truck smashed into the back a van being loaded by the child's family. They were getting ready to leave Hickey Park on North Broadway and Harlan.
Police say other arriving family members started causing a large disturbance, necessitating a city-wide aid call.
50-year-old Kevin Johnson allegedly ran from the truck, but later called 911 to turn himself in.
Johnson is charged with Endangering the Welfare of a Child, Assault, Armed Criminal Action, and Leaving the Scene of an accident. He's being held without bond.
