You can listen to the award-winning segment below, which is live coverage from the morning of March 18, 2020. It contains reports on the arrival of the coronavirus in the area:
KMOX, The Voice of St. Louis, has once again been recognized nationally with one of radio's highest honors.
"Being honored with a Murrow for best newscast is an incredible honor," stated KMOX Brand Manager Steve Moore. "2020 was a challenging year. COVID forced us to operate often remotely or with a skeleton staff. Our News Director, reporters and anchors were forced to enterprise and improvise. We don’t have the biggest staff, but they are talented and dedicated."
There were more than 5,200 entries this year for the Radio Television Digital News Association's (RTDNA) Murrow awards. In May, RTDNA recognized more than 750 winners of the Regional Murrow Awards, which automatically advanced to the national competition.
Among the most prestigious awards in news, the Murrow Awards recognize local and national news stories that uphold the RTDNA Code of Ethics, demonstrate technical expertise and exemplify the importance and impact of journalism as a service to the community. Murrow Award winning work demonstrates the excellence that Edward R. Murrow made a standard for the broadcast news profession.
RTDNA has been honoring outstanding achievements in electronic journalism with these awards since 1971.
