ST. LOUIS (KMOX) -The remains of a Missouri soldier lost during the Korean War is returning home to be buried.
Army Corporal Gerald Wilson was 19-years-old when he was declared missing during the Battle of Yongdong in July 1950. Cpl. Wilson had been in service for almost two years prior to his death.
Cpl. Wilson was a member of Company F, 2nd Battalion, 5th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division.
Cpl. Wilson, who was from the Lakes of the Ozarks area, was accounted for in August 2019 after his remains were exhumed from National Memorial Cemetery of Pacific at Punchbowl in Hawaii.
Cpl. Wilson's remains arrived at Lambert International Airport at 3:22 p.m. Friday afternoon.
A procession traveling westbound on I-44 from St. Louis that will lead him to the funeral home in Macks Creek. Funeral services will take place on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Parrack Grove Cemetery in Macks Creek.
