Lafayette Park is the first and oldest park west of the Mississippi, dating back to 1836. The Lafayette Park Conservancy preserves, maintains and helps the Park flourish, working in partnership with the city of St. Louis. Sam Moore, who is on the Conservancy board, says the park is integral to the historic Lafayette Square neighborhood that surrounds it.
They're presenting "A Weekend For the Trees" as part of Arbor Day celebrations, with tree plantings and other community events.
