Among the thousands who sustained damage from July's flash flooding was one organization that helps around 14,000 students across 48 schools every year -- Little Bit Foundation.

Little Bit Foundation helps students with essential needs, targeting schools that have high rates of free and reduced lunch, making sure students have clothes, school supplies, and anything else they might need so they can focus on their education.

The organization's CEO, Miranda Walker Jones, joined KMOX to talk about the damage to their Brentwood offices and warehouses. She described the damage as "completely devastating."

"We are directly behind Deer Creek. So we had we lost 90% of all of our things. I mean, it was a direct hit. So we had over four and a half feet of water, rushing water," Walker Jones said. "We literally had standing water in the building when we walked in, it was it was quite amazing to see and our staff was quite heartbroken."

She said their insurance companies came in and started the cleanup immediately -- but then they were hit again two days later with a little more than two feet of water.

They've started the rebuilding process, and are now in a temporary location on Bauer Avenue, where they can start gaining a stock again and takign donations.

She said the things her organization needs the most help with is monetary donations.

"Monetary donations are great because it allows us to buy in bulk and we get the cheaper rates. Because we get discounted rates to buy thousands of uniform pants, thousands of uniform shirts," Walker Jones explained. "We can also buy bulk supply so those are always probably the best thing, especially for us to handle right now."

The organization will hold a community drive on October 1 and a gala on October 14. Find more information on their website.
