36-year-old Christopher Sean Pearson is alleged to have left a baby in the middle of Natural Bridge and Goodfellow before driving away.
According to charging documents, Pearson was driving a blue Tesla Wednesday afternoon when he was seen by witnesses abandoning a baby seat in the road. One of the witnesses went to go move the car seat, only to be surprised to find it occupied.
Pearson allegedly told the mother of the child the baby was dropped off at a police station. Police say the child was was unharmed.
When law enforcement later caught up with Pearson, he attempted to flee, nearly causing multiple collisions before jumping the curb at a dead end, and driving through a fenced in yard before finally stopping. He was seen throwing a pistol from the vehicle. Two other firearms were found in the Tesla.
St. Louis City Police have not said why Pearson abandoned the child. He's facing one count of endangering the welfare of a child and one count of resisting arrest.
