FERGUSON, MO (KMOX) - UPDATED: New development late Saturday afternoon in this case. Ferguson Police released new information on the fatal shooting.
Saying after a review of the facts, the St. Louis County Prosecutor has issued charges of Involuntary Manslaughter and Armed Criminal Action against Security Officer Maury Adams.
Adams is being held on a 50-thousand-dollar cash only bond.
A deadly exchange of gunfire at a Ferguson convenience store ended with a man fatally wounded Saturday.
The incident began around 1:30 a.m. at the Quick Trip at 10768 W. Florissant Avenue. Ferguson Police said a man entered the store, tried to make a purchase, but got into an argument over the required identification. He left the store but came back a short time later with a gun.
Surveillance footage shows a standoff between him and a security guard. Shots were fired by both and both men were hit, but the guard was wearing a bulletproof vest. The man suffered life-threatening injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The guard was hospitalized briefly.
"We urge community members with any knowledge or information about this incident, or who may have been present at or around the time of the event, to reach out to the Ferguson Police Department at 314-522-3100," authorities said in a press release.
