In DeSoto, a car ended up sliding into Lake Kinippi on Monday morning after swerving to avoid a trash truck stopped on Highway H.
John Scullin with the DeSoto Rural Fire Protection District said the situation is like deja-vu for their first responders.
"The small lake-pond structure is very close to the highway, we've had this happen in previous years a few times," Scullin said. "Luckily it's shallow and there's almost always just minor or no injuries."
The driver wasn't hurt; he was sitting on top of his submerged car when the deputy chief arrived to help him ashore.
"When he arrived he did find a man standing on top of the car," Scullin said. "And what he did is he went to the bank and luckily the car stayed close enough to he bank that he was able to step in and assist him off the car so he was safely able to exit."
