JEFFERSON COUNTY, Mo (KMOX) - A St. Louis man was killed on a Missouri highway after he was knocked off his scooter and then struck by a tractor-trailer.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP) says Dante R. Trice, 54, was driving a 2014 Lance Cali Classic 50 scooter on Interstate 55 near Pevely when he was run into from behind by a Chevy Cruze. The knock caused him to fall of the scooter and he was then struck by a tractor-trailer.
According to the manufacturer, that scooter has a maximum speed of 30 mph.
The accident happened Friday night around 7:35 p.m. and Trice was pronoucned dead at the scene, according to MSHP.
