St. Louis health officials are confirming a case of measles that dates back to the end of April. An out-of-state resident with a confirmed case visited the St. Louis Aquarium and a nearby restaurant April 30. No new cases have been linked so far, but doctors say measles is highly contagious, far more so than COVID-19.

The CDC says there have been over a thousand measles cases in the U.S. this year, more than three times the number last year. Three people have died.

The St. Louis Department of Public Health encourages people to get protection against measles, mumps and rubella. It comes in one vaccine.

Initial symptoms include fever, dry cough, runny nose and red, watering eyes. Symptoms tend to appear within a week or two of contact.
