MetroLink is making an investment to increase security features.
KMOX's Kevin Killeen heard from Kevin Scott, the general manager of security, about what some of the changes will be. One of them involves implementing a no-ticket, no-ride system. MetroLink has said they've had problems with people walking onto trains without a ticket.
"You're going to have to pay fare to enter into the paid fare zone of the platforms themselves," Scott said.
Scott said there will also be more security cameras and fencing, though they're not focusing on things like metal detectors yet.
"As of right now the design does not include a metal detection system," he said. "The first phase of the design has been focused solely on the gates and the fencing and the reconfiguration of CCTV."
He said metal detectors could come later, though. The two-year plan could cost $50 million once it's completed.
Some critics of the program say it will take away a resource from people who rely on it by making it harder to access.
