A two-month search for a missing family of four from Newton in central Illinois has ended in Arizona, where they were found to be okay, but there are a lot of questions.
Some were concerned the Lutz family would never been seen alive again.
The 44-year-old father, Stephen, was to have no contact with his wife and sons because of an alleged domestic violence incident.
However, Newton Police Chief Riley Britton told CBS 3 in Champaign they were tracking the family’s movements.
“License plate readers were great.”
He spoke to Stephen Lutz. “Sounds like he doesn’t want much to do with Newton anymore.”
A deputy in Arizona paid the family a visit and said they seemed fine.
"The fact that they can skip state and be free of that – it’s very concerning to me,” the father's adult daughter, Brittany said. “I’m trying to be happy knowing that they were found alive, but I mean, I won’t ever get to see them again.”
She said before they disappeared, the older son said he saw his father talking to a clown mask on the wall and said he would kill his family.
The police chief said what happens next is up to a judge.
