Those Bitcoin A.T.M.s popping up at gas stations and convenience stores are now the target of a Missouri lawsuit.
Attorney General Catherine Hanaway has sued CoinFlip, which operates more than 140 of the A.T.M.s across the state, accusing the company of facilitating scams and charging excessive fees on transactions that can't be reversed.
Hanaway says scammers love these machines because the money's hard to trace and impossible to get back once it's sent.
Missouri Highway Patrol data shows 350 crypto fraud cases over the past two years have involved one of these A.T.M.s.
