
A Missouri community is mourning the death of a youth soccer player. The Waynesville/St. Robert sports group (WSR) said the player died after after collapsing during a match Thursday night.
On Facebook, the league shared that Ken Taylor was taken to the hospital but could not be revived.
"Our hearts, thoughts and prayers are with the Taylor family as they mourn the loss of their beloved son Ken," wrote WSR. "We reach out to their family at this time to let them know we are here, we care, and we are mourning with you. May God be with you during this time."
All league games were cancelled for Friday and Saturday.
This was posted on the City of Waynesville Facebook page:
"We stand together with the Taylor family in this difficult time, and offer our heartfelt condolences for the loss of their beloved Ken. May we all find strength and comfort in each other's embrace.
"The city has placed a wreath at the soccer field this tragedy took place and welcomes the community to place their own contributions, in honor of Ken Taylor’s memory."
Waynesville Mayor Sean Wilson said the town is offer grief counseling for free.
