22-year old driver accused of hitting, killing Chicago mother and daughter charged

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - The St. Louis Circuit Attorney has charged the 22-year old driver of a Jeep Cherokee accused of hitting and killing a mother and daughter visiting from Chicago.

Monte Henderson was charged with two counts of involuntary Manslaughter First and two counts of Armed Criminal Action in regards to a hit-and-run incident following a Drake Concert Wednesday.

According to St. Louis Metropolitan Police incident report, just after midnight Wednesday morning, a 2020 Jeep Cherokee driven by Henderson was travelling eastbound on Olive at high rates of speed from Compton, passing through multiple red lights.

The Jeep would hit two victims, Laticha Bracero, 42, and her daughter Alyssa Cordova, 21, who were walking north across Olive within the east crosswalk. Bracero and Cordova were in town to attend a Drake concert.

Both were thrown to the north sidewalk of Olive. Bracero was pronounced dead at the scene, while Cordova was transported to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Along with the mother and daughter, Henderson's Jeep would hit two cars, eventually stopping following a T-bone collision with a 2015 Mazda CX-5.

Along with the two fatalities, three more people had to be transported to the hospital with minor injuries.
