New COVID variant as contagious as measles

The COVID BA5 variant now accounts for 55% of all COVID cases in the U.S. The dominant variant is the most contagious one yet, with an infection rate that is on par with measles.

CBS News medical contributor David Agus said that though the vaccines provide good protection against serious illness, they don't prevent getting sick entirely. This means that even for people who were infected with a different variant in the last few weeks, they're still susceptible to the new variant.
