There's a newly signed law in Illinois that spells out when hotels can remove a guest for unruly behavior. Michael Jacobson heads the state's Hotel and Lodging Association, and explains the need for a law.
"Current law does not explicitly allow a hotel to remove a customer for verbally abusive behavior. Giving the hotels the ability will protect employees' physical and mental wellbeing and help deter this unacceptable behavior."
The law also says guests can be removed if they allow minors to drink alcohol. Jacobson says it's unfortunate a new law is needed, but guests are becoming increasingly abusive in recent years.
