ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - Saint Louis University released the latest poll numbers from it's YouGov poll and it shows significant support for Republicans candidates, along with support for some amendments that will be tentatively on the ballot in Missouri in November.
According to the poll numbers, both Josh Hawley and Mike Kehoe both have a significant leads over their Democratic opponents in their races for U.S. Senate and Governor, respectively, with Hawley holding a 11 point lead over Lucas Kunce, while Kehoe holding a 10 point lead over Crystal Quade.
"A reminder to listeners, a Democrat has not won a statewide race in Missouri since 2018," said SLU Political Science Professor & director of the SLU/YouGov Poll Steve Rogers on Total Information A.M. "If you are going from President to State Treasurer, Republicans have double digits leads in all of these races."
On ballot issues, such as sports betting, raising the minimum wage, and abortion, respondents in the poll voted in favor of all three.
On the issue of legalizing sports betting on professional sports in Missouri, polls show support for Ballot Proposition Language Amendment 2, with 50% of respondents expressing 'Yes', while 30% responded 'No' and 21% 'do not know their decision yet.
"Over time, we have found different kind of responses with sports betting," said Rogers. "It is important in what you ask. Over a year ago, we asked how much support was there for sports betting for both professional and college sports, but then back in February, we split it up."
"In February, we found betting on college sports only had support of 47%, while professional sports, which is the amendment that we will voting in November about, it had support of 60%."
On the issue of abortion, 52% of respondents are in favor of amending the Missouri State Constitution when it comes to the topic of abortion, with 14% unsure. Interestingly, 32% of Republicans have expressed support for amending the constitution when it comes to abortion, while 18% are not sure of their decision.
"We actually polled on this issue back in February, with the exact same question and from February to now, we saw an 8% increase in support for this abortion initiative," said Rogers. "Here, we saw increases across both men and women, a 7% shift across Democrats, Independents, and Republicans."
"'Not sure' voters fell about 5% and 'No' even fell about 3%."
When it comes to raising minimum wage, 57% of voters expressed their support of raising the state's minimum wage, with 30% against it and 14% aren't sure yet. Every area in the state showed support of it in the YouGOV poll, with 37% Republicans are in support of it compared to 44% who are against it.
