ST. PETERS (KMOX) -- A St. Peters police officer is recovering this morning from a gunshot wound to the leg.

A suspect fired on the officer following a traffic stop at 5:40 PM Thursday afternoon on Mid Rivers Mall Drive. The suspect sped off and an alert went out with the vehicle description.

The dark blue Chevy Trailblazer was soon spotted and chased by multiple police agencies into Lincoln County where the pursuit ended on Myers Road, which is south of Troy, Mo.
