SAINT LOUIS, MO (KMOX) - If your school district uses an online portal called Skyward for registration, you may still be waiting to register for the new school year.
School districts in our region have been dealing with disruptions and complete outages on the Skyward system over the last week -- right at the point when student registration is kicking into high gear.
In a statement send to KMOX News, Skyward says it's related to system upgrades -- it was part of planned maintenance, but some unexpected issues have required more testing.
Skyward adds the outage was not triggered by any cyberattack or security incidents. Here's the text of Skyward's full statement:
We are currently working through delays associated with a scheduled migration to a new hosting environment. The planned infrastructure update is taking longer than originally anticipated after issues were identified during post-upgrade validation and testing. While this work was part of planned maintenance, resolving the unexpected issues has required additional time to ensure the environment is stable and operating correctly.
We recognize the disruption this service interruption has caused for affected schools and districts, and we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience. Our hosting partner and internal Skyward teams are working to restore service as quickly as possible. We also want to reassure our customers that this issue is related to infrastructure within the hosting environment, and not a defect in Skyward's software or the result of a cyberattack or security incident.
