ST. LOUIS COUNTY (KMOX) - The St. Louis County Justice Center is reporting 110 detainees have tested positive for COVID-19. They are all being monitored and housed separately from the rest of the population.

Another 30 detainees who displayed symptoms are awaiting test results and 30 others are quarantined due to exposure to the virus. The current Buzz Westfall Justice Center population is 825 and about 40% of detainees have been fully vaccinated, the County says.
Also, 30 Justice Center staff members have tested positive for COVID.
The County says About 65% of jail employees are vaccinated, while the others comply with the County’s requirement of weekly testing for those who are unvaccinated.

No detainees or employees have experienced serious symptoms or have required hospitalization, according to acting director of the Justice Center, Scott Anders.
“Outbreaks in jails are happening across the U.S. and we knew it was eventually going to impact our employees and residents,” Anders said.
