RICHMOND HEIGHTS, MO (KMOX) - A painter working inside Maggiano's Little Italy in Richmond Heights early Thursday morning, shot a man who forced his way into the restaurant and charged him, police say.
Police tell KMOX the suspect, a 45-year-old man from Arnold, used his body weight to force his way in the front door at about 3:40 a.m. The painter, who police say is much smaller than the other man, figured he'd loose a struggle over the weapon, so he shot him in the lower body. The intruder is expected to recover.
The painter, also 45-years-old, has a conceal carry license from Illinois. The other man was not armed. Investigators don't know why he forced his way into the restaurant.
Police say they wIll present the case to the county prosecutor.
