UPDATE: July 2nd. KMOX News received a statement from Walgreens communications spokesman Marty Maloney:
"Widespread power and internet outages recently caused some local stores to reduce their hours or temporarily close, but all have since resumed normal operations. Other locations have also faced staffing challenges, which we're actively addressing by adding and adjusting team members. We remain committed to resolving these issues and are proud to continue serving the St. Louis community."
ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - We have a follow-up to a KMOX News exclusive. Why so many Walgreens' pharmacies leaving customers in a lurch by not being able to get prescriptions during regular business hours.
KMOX asked people last week on the social media platform Nextdoor, if they were having trouble getting their prescriptions, the response was overwhelming, messages continue to pour in and as it turns out, it's not just at a few Walgreens pharmacies. It happens in St. Louis City, North, South and West St. Louis County, we've even had complaints from Festus, Missouri.
After several attempts to give Walgreens corporate a chance to answer our questions, the media spokesman chose not to return our calls or emails.
Tuesday, KMOX's Maria Keena contacted Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey's office and asked, if customers who cannot get their medications from numerous Walgreens pharmacies, either because they close unexpectedly during regular business hours, or cannot get medications because they are not being stocked, if people have any recourse.
Bailey's press secretary says for the A.G to launch an investigation, they must receive complaints. Click here to file a complaint https://app.ago.mo.gov/app/consumercomplaint If you prefer to call, the number is 800-392-8222.
KMOX News will continue to follow this story and provide updates as they are available.
