ST. LOUIS, MO (KMOX) - People who haven't worn jeans, dress clothes or makeup for months during the pandemic may be a little body conscious as they start to return to previous activities. Plastic surgeons say they're seeing a surge in calls from people interested in cosmetic procedures.

KMOX asked St. Louis' Dr. Samer Cabbabe, FACS, a nationally-known body contour expert, whether people seeing themselves on Zoom calls have contributed. "I think that's definitely part of it, I think there's probably been some weight gain also during COVID, and maybe the whole pandemic has brought people to the realization that life's too short." Cabbabe says more people are exposed to cosmetic options than ever before -- especially non-invasive procedures -- thanks to social media. And they've had months at home to take a good look at themselves.

How are people paying? Cabbabe says many clients have more disposable income because they haven't travelled much the last year.  He says others are using stimulus checks.

Dr. Cabbabe has a ninemonth wait for consultations.
