ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - The St. Louis Circuit Attorney's office dropped the ball on a suspected murderer's case and now police are trying to get him back in custody.

St. Louis Police requested help Wednesday afternoon in locating Brandon Campbell (photo above) in connection to the shooting death of Randy Moore in St. Louis on July 9. Campbell's case was dismissed by a circuit court judge last week after Kim Gardner's office missed three court appearances and a deadline.

He's accused of first-degree murder.

The St. Louis Circuit Attorney spokeswoman tells KMOX the prosecutor on that case went on maternity leave during Campbell's case. Gardner's spokesperson says policies have been reviewed in that case and corrective action was taken to avoid a repeat occurrence.
