ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - The weather certainly cooperated for Saturday's Mardi Gras Grand Parade in the Soulard neighborhood. And with pretty weather came large crowds.
St. Louis Police Captain Pierre Benoist says for large scale events, the Missouri Highway Patrol and St. Louis County Police work in the City.
St. Louis Police are also counting on mobile sky cams, as well as plain clothes detectives for monitoring festivities. Police were telling Mardi Gras attendees to report problems to police walking the streets, or call 911 or the non emergency number (314) 231-1212. However, on Friday, police cautioned that cell phone service would be limited in Soulard.
There were several disturbance calls in Soulard following the parade, including two officer in need of aid calls at 8th and Geyer and 9th and Geyer, as well as a fire call at that same location. There was a reported assault at 7th and Marion, a pedestrian struck, at Russell and 11th Street, and several other disturbance calls throughout the evening.
