Boy, 13, in St. Louis returned fire after being shot, police say

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - A 13-year-old told police he was walking in a popular area of downtown St. Louis Sunday night when he was shot. He then fired a gun back at the suspect, police say.

The incident happened Sunday night around 11:45 p.m. on Washington Avenue right in the middle of downtown St. Louis. The 13-year-old victim told police he was near Tucker Boulevard near the Shell gas station and was being watched by three men.

The victim told police one of the men shot at him, striking him in the leg. Police say the boy then fired back at the suspect who ran away on foot.

Police describe the suspects as three Black males, wearing all dark clothes. The victim is a 13-year-old Black male.

The victim was listed in serious, but stable condition. Police say an investigation is underway.
