ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - What was supposed to be a Moonlight Ramble bicycle ride turned out to be a moonlight mess.
Saturday night's event had to be cancelled at the last minute, as hundreds of riders were already near the "start-finish" line.
Event organizers say a final route check deemed it to be unsafe for riders, due to a third-party security company not doing its part in securing the route and drivers moving barricades.
A statement from Moonlight Ramble says refunds will be issued to those who registered to ride.
They say event associated donations to Trailnet will still happen, and that the charity is not to blame for the security issue or the cancellation.
