The family of Demetrious Johnson has released a statement following Johnson's death regarding how people can pay their respects and remember him:
"The Johnson family extends its heartfelt gratitude for the outpouring of condolences since the death of Demetrious Johnson on December 24th, 2022.
To celebrate his life and legacy, a community memorial service will occur on Monday, January 2, 2023 at Chaifetz Arena (1 S. Compton Ave., St. Louis, MO 63103), from 1pm to 3pm CST. Doors for the service will open at Noon.
Additionally, there will be a formal escorted procession from the Demetrious Johnson Foundation Center (724 Union Blvd St. Louis MO 63108) at Noon on Monday to the Chaifetz Arena. The public is welcomed to attend the memorial and encouraged to share photos and memories online via the following link: DJ Memorial Service. Continued updates and latest details regarding the memorial service can be found on the memorial service website leading up to the event."
The family asks that if anyone plans to make any contributions to direct them to the Demetrious Johnson Charitable Foundation.
