Around the country people are seeing the most expensive Independence Day gas prices ever.
But AAA's Nick Chabarria says that's not causing drivers to put the brakes on -- people are still road tripping for the holiday.

"Even with these higher prices we're still expecting to see a record number of road trip travelers for the upcoming idndependence day holiday weekend," he said.
Chabarria said travelers seem to be trying to make up for lost time when they couldn't travel during the height of the pandemic, and driving may be the best way to travel right now.
"Airlines are still dealing with staffing shortages, we've seen cancellations as a result of staffing issues as well as weather related issues this summer," he said. "And the same goes for the hospitality industry, whether it's hotels or restaurants."
Since places are short-staffed, Chabarria tells travelers to "pack your patience" this weekend. And for those who are flying, Chabarria has a piece of advice.
"Book your tickets for your airfare as early in the day as possible, there's less chance you're going to run into delays or cancellations."
