KMOX is just days away from its third annual Brett Blume Blood Drive, honoring our late colleague who lost his battle to cancer.

Joe Zydlo of the American Red Cross joined Total Information AM to give an update on the blood drive.

"We're hoping to have over 400 appointments. Right now we've got 350," Zydlo said. "So we still have room for everybody, have plenty of room to take every one, and seven locations for him to choose from. So please make those appointments, folks."

The Brett Blume Blood Drive is bigger than ever this year, with locations in O'Fallon, Imperial, Chesterfield, Washington and St. Louis in Missouri, plus Belleville and Collinsville, Illinois.

Zydlo added that the Red Cross has a critical need for all types of blood.

"When we do have disaster situations, such as the flooding we had and the end of July, and all the rain in early August, that the situation we dealt with here in St. Louis, that will impact our donor center," he said.

The blood drive takes place Wednesday, August 31 from 2-7 p.m. Sign up to donate at RedCrossBlood.org and use the sponsor code "KMOX."
