On Thursday, Queen Elizabeth II died at the age of 96. The world longest-standing monarch, she'd reigned for more than 70 years.
Margaret Brennan, moderator of Face the Nation on CBS, joined KMOX to talk about the Queen's legacy.
"The Queen really was on the throne for such a tremendously important period of time," Brennan said. "We have really, during the period of her life, seen the world reshaped. And so it is, I think, a touch point, certainly for the British public, but as a public figure, to look to someone who was constant throughout those periods."
Now, with King Charles stepping up, he will be subject to the media scrutiny he's dealt with for many years.
"So now is the question is, can he really sort of carve out a role that is very useful to Britain in and in a time of difficulty?" Brennan said. "We know his interest areas are around issues like climate and organic farming and the environment, perhaps fitting for the moment of time we are in, but we will see just what kind of role he may be able to take on diplomatically."
