FRONTENAC, Mo. (KMOX) - Jim Edmonds is facing a lawsuit from the town he lives in over what the city claims is his refusal to build a fence around his pool.

The St. Louis Cardinals Hall of Famer and current TV commentator was named as the defendant in a lawsuit filed last week by the city of Frontenac, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. The suit states the city approved Edmonds to build a pool in his backyard that would include a 4-foot-tall aluminum fence around it, but only a temporary panel fence that isn't up to code is there.

The city says Edmonds has to build the fence or drain the pool. And the lawsuit asks that the eight-time Gold Glove-winning centerfielder pay for the city's legal fees.

"Mr. Edmonds’ deliberate inaction has created a serious safety issue for himself, his family, guests and the multiple children who live and play in the neighborhood," city officials said in a statement to the Post-Dispatch. "We look forward to working with Mr. Edmonds to get this matter resolved as quickly as possible for the safety of everyone involved."

The $5 million home is on Brindle Lane.
