ST. LOUIS (KMOX) -- There's word of a tentative agreement between grocer Schnuck Markets and United Food and Commercial Workers Local 655. The union says its bargaining committee has approved the deal.

KMOX News is told the agreement includes expanded health care benefits without an increase in premiums. Also, eligibility for health care would be calculated based on hours worked spread across a three month basis, which should help more employees qualify for and keep their benefits.

A union official tells us it's the best contract for wages in years and would increase the number of full-time jobs available. Schnucks, meantime, could reduce its pension contributions because the account is well-funded.

UCFW Local 655's bargaining committee is recommending passage. All membership will vote on Wednesday, May 18th at St. Charles Family Arena.
