A 23-year-old from St. Louis County was sentenced to 16 consecutive life sentences in prison. Dominic Yacco was convicted last year of 16 counts of felony sex crimes after nine teenage girls between ages 14 and 16 accused him of rape.

One victim gave an impact statement to the court, saying that Yocco "took advantage of me at the most vulnerable time of my life" and that she suffered from night terrors and panic attacks.

Another impact statement came from the mother of one of Yocco's victims whose daughter died by suicide. She said that after her daughter was raped, she was diagnosed with PTSD, depression and anxiety.

In a statement to the court, Yocco apparently expressed no remorse, took no responsibility for the crimes and claimed his victims had harassed him.

"Only a jury and a judge could stop this predator, and our team thanks the court and the jury for ensuring that he is removed from our community and can no longer prey on more vulnerable women," said St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney Wesley Bell.

Yocco will be eligible for parole in 83 years. He has also been sentenced to Missouri's predatory sexual offender statute.
