Sick bunnies dumped outside animal shelter

Another animal dumping in St. Louis.

This summer, we told you about an abandoned iguana duct taped to a tree in St. Peters and a ball of guinea pigs dumped in O'Fallon.
On Monday, four sick, juveniles bunnies were left in a small box outside of a rabbit rescue in St. Charles.
Katie Reed, Executive Director and Founder of Dolly's Dream Home Rabbit Rescue, says she receives about 100 surrender or dumping rabbit requests per week.

Dolly's Dream Home Rabbit Rescue acts as the middle man for dumped or surrendered rabbits, effectively taking them from unwanted scenarios and then placing them in appropriate foster homes.

Reed says the rabbits had a variety of sicknesses and were crammed in a small cardboard box that read "sorry! take care"

"I went to take the trash out and I saw a box and I was just like, oh it must have fallen out of the trash then I saw a note on top and my heart just sank into my stomach."

The four bunnies are still receiving medical attention.
