Three St. Louis Police Officers caught in barrage of bullets

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - Three St. Louis Police Officers narrowly escaped being shot overnight in South City.

The officers were driving on a parking lot in the 49-hundred block of Christy when they heard gunshots. As they turned the corner, they saw the driver of a pickup truck stick a handgun,  with an extended magazine, out the window and fired shots in the officer's direction. They saw several muzzle flashes and heard bullets whizzing past the marked police vehicle.


The suspect's vehicle drove off the parking lot, police eventually stopped the suspect, a 20-year old man and took him into custody without incident.

Police found in the truck a black Springfield X-D 9mm semi-automatic pistol with an extended magazine.

No officers were injured.

In other weekend crime, another carjacking in South St. Louis. A 24-year old woman had parked her vehicle in front of her residence in the 3900 block of French when two suspects pulled up along side her in a Chrysler 200, the passenger pointed a gun at the victim, then opened her door and demanded her keys and phone.

That suspect got into the Grey 2019 Chevrolet Blazer and drove towards Loughborough with the Chrysler 200 following behind it.
