Workers in St. Charles are expected to be part of an effort to "Make Amazon Pay" on Black Friday.

Make Amazon Pay is a coalition of workers and activists, with walkouts planned at the company's facilities across the U.S. this Friday.

Employees of the Amazon Fulfillment Center STL8 in St. Charles are expected to strike in protest of what they call "exploitation." Workers are demanding better pay, increased compensation for cross training for additional roles, and better worker safety protections.

In a statement, Amazon said its wages are competitive and that it's investing in new ways to keep employees safe.

Amazon came under fire in the St. Louis region late last year after a tornado struck its Edwardsville warehouse and killed six workers. Aside from that, it's had dozens of allegations of poor workplace safety, employees having little to no time for breaks, being fired for trying to improve working conditions, and union busting practices.
