ST. CHARLES COUNTY, Mo (KMOX) - St. Charles County is lifting the 11 p.m. curfew on bars, restaurants and nightclubs as health officials say they haven't seen a spike in COVID-19 cases in more than a month.

The county health director signed a new order on Monday to end the curfew that had been in place since late November as part of an effort to limit the spread of COVID-19. St. Charles County Executive Steve Ehlmann sent a letter to business owners to make them aware of the change.

The letter explains that in December "the rate of deaths in St. Charles County has declined significantly, and is now much lower than St. Louis County, while the rate of positive cases has decreased to be roughly equal to that of St. Louis County." The letter also states that St. Charles County hasn't seen a spike in new cases, nor have hospitalization rates increased in December and January.

Ehlmann also says "the virus is not under control yet" and asks for everyone to continue wearing face masks, practice safe social distancing to "ensure we do not regress to the situation we were facing in November."
