St. Charles County residents rank No. 1 in Missouri with highest earnings

ST. CHARLES COUNTY, Mo. (KMOX) - A new study from a financial services website found St. Charles County is the top-earning county in the state.

The study by SmartAsset.com looked at counties across the county with the greatest purchasing power as measured by the cost of living relative to income. St. Charles County topped all counties in Missouri with $84,978 in median income. It is also the 114th highest-earning county in the US.

Also inside the top-10 on the list was St. Louis County at No. 5, Jefferson County at No. 6 and Lincoln County at No. 7.

Counties in the Kansas City and Jefferson City area rounded out the rest of the top 10:

The lowest earning county in the state is Ozark County with $31,947 median income.
