FAIRVIEW HEIGHTS, Ill. (KMOX) - (Updated) One man is hospitalized and two are in custody after a shooting inside the St. Clair Square Mall in Fairview Heights. It happened around 4 Thursday afternoon. One witness tells KMOX he heard two gunshots, and saw someone on the ground.
The mall went on lockdown until the suspects were apprehended inside. No names have been released, but police say those involved knew each other.
The victim was airlifted from the mall parking lot.
Canine units were called to the scene. KMOX's Rodger Brand learned the two suspects had apparently been hiding in a bathroom inside the mall. Police also have reportedly recovered the weapons used.
