St. Louis agency prepares to welcome refugees from Ukraine

ST. LOUIS, MO (KMOX) - Thousands of Ukrainians continue to flee into nearby Poland and neighboring countries to escape the indiscriminate Russian attacks. Could some of those families eventually be welcomed in St. Louis?

The International Institute in South St. Louis tells KMOX they are ready to accept the displaced refugees. However, like during the Bosnian crisis, Congress must give the green light for the U-S to accept refugees. Arrey Obenson says there is already an established Ukrainian community in St. Louis.

Obsenson adds if you want to help now, the best way is on the relief front and adds the St. Louis community needs to be preparing to accept Ukrainian refugees.
