St. Louis-native rapper Nelly is making a big move with his music catalog. Variety reports he's selling half of it to HarbourView Equity Partners, an investment firm, for $50 million.

The deal includes some of his biggest hits, such as "Hot in Herre" and "Dilemma," which earned him Grammys in 2003, as well as "Air Force Ones" and "Country Grammar."

Nelly said he wanted to preserve his artistry and legacy, and to reach new audiences with his music. He joins a growing list of artists who have sold their catalogs or parts of them.

He is not the only St. Louis musician to monetize his past work. Music producer Metro Boomin, who's collaborated with The Weeknd, Travis Scott, Drake, and more also sold his catalog for nearly $70 million recently.
