ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - The Boy Scouts will not be hanging their Scouting for Food bags on your front porch, mail box or doorstep this Saturday. But you can still donate canned food and non perishables.
The Greater St. Louis Area Boy Scouts announced on Thursday night that the annual event is canceled due to "rapidly rising COVID-19 cases, and to ensure alignment with the rapidly changing guidelines from health departments and political leaders."
This Saturday Nov. 14 was suppose to be the day area Boy Scout Troops placed plastic bags at the homes of neighborhoods throughout St. Louis. Then the following Saturday they'd go back to each home and pick up the bags full of food items for donation.
The Boys Scouts shared ways you can still donate:
1) Donate through our text-to-give campaign – Text "SCOUTFOOD" to 91999 to donate
2) Food collection at a retail collection site near you – locations to be released
"We will be reaching out to all of our partners in this outstanding annual effort to inform them of this change quickly," the statement read. "Additional details about the modified drive will be released as we have them. Thank you for all you are doing for Scouting in this challenging environment."
