ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - Thousands turned out for their annual "wearing of the green" in downtown St. Louis.

Saturday marked the 55th annual Saint Patrick's Day Parade, complete with 120 floats, marching bands, and other units, including nearly 5,000 parade marchers.

A member of Ireland's parliament is in town for the weekend's festivities.

Patrick O'Donovan told KMOX the Irish government likes to send its ministers across the globe to represent Irish values and forge new bonds.

Meanwhile in Ireland, Marching Mizzou participated in the Tipperary town parade on Saturday, playing "Every True Son" which is based on the Irish tune, "It's a Long Way to Tipperary." The group's traveling party numbered 300.
