For the tenth time since the start of 2022, a detainee at St. Louis City's Justice Center has died.
Saturday morning at about 2 o'clock, Juwon Carter's cellmate told guards Carter was having a medical emergency. Narcan was given and he was taken by ambulance to a local hospital. A judge granted a release for his family to join him there.
The 44-year-old was pronounced dead at 10:36 a.m. Carter had been held for a year and a half on involuntary manslaughter and assault charges.
