FLORISSANT, MO (KMOX) - Saint Louis County Police now handling an investigation after a 35-year old male detainee was found unresponsive Sunday morning in his jail cell.
At the Florissant Police Chief's request, St. Louis County Police was immediately notified to take over the investigation.
Chief Fagan said in a facebook posting: Quote:
"Our department takes any in-custody death seriously. "We are committed to a full and transparent investigation and that's why I have asked the St. Louis County Police Department to lead the investigation. Our thoughts are with the family during this difficult time."
Late last evening, St. Louis County Police say the death is likely a suicide.
